Angelmorphic Christology

In Gen. 48:16 the “Angel” is Christ. That the eternal Son of God is the Messenger of the LORD is the OT’s own teaching. cf. Gerhard, On Death II, on this verse.

Faith as humility

The parallelism of Hab. 2:4 (Rom. 1) shows that faith equals humility and dependence before God.

Honoring pastors for their work

1 Thess. 5:12-13: Pastors are to labor, to be over, to admonish; to be respected and to be esteemed highly on account of the work (not their persons). This results in a peaceful congregation. But the congregation that does not respect its pastor or esteem him despises both the Word he administers and their own peace (Despising the ministry).

Teaching for faith

A deeply rooted faith comes from teaching (Col. 2:7). Therefore preachers should teach and hearers should gladly learn (SC).

Give thanks even in the fish

When at his lowest point, the prophet Jonah gave the sacrifice of thanksgiving, which is chiefly this (Jonah 2:9): salvation is of the Lord!, which in a word is: Jesus. xref Col. 3 and Phil 4.
