“Liturgical worship feels unnatural to us because does not reflect our ’natural’ feelings. Rather, it teaches us what to feel when God meets us in His Word and sacrament” (Senkbeil, Sanctification: Christ in Action, p. 180).
Rob Mayes: “Makes complete sense to me why such like this do not want their band taken away. It's their false sacrament, by which they can mystically be united to God in all His glory. This, coincidentally, is another reason why most contemporary worship music avoids the topic of baptism and the Lord's Supper. Contemporary worship is a substitute sacrament, invented by men, and designed to give people a closer connection to God than the simple means of grace. It's all enthusiasm in the worst sense of the Word. Despite no word from God authorizing it, people seek this union with God in the musical works and modern ceremonial rituals of man (aka, contemporary worship).”
