Familiarity Breeds Contemplation

A twist on the English proverb says: “Familiarity breeds contemplation.” The more we know and retain of God’s Word, the more we meditate on it and apply in within our lives. This is not so different from the adage: repetitio mater studiorum.

Since this is true, the case can be made that greater Biblical literacy is achieved by the One Year Lectionary over the Three, that is, a greater familiarity is achieved with the fewer but more repeated set of readings.
