Pieper notes that the tithe as an OT ceremonial/civil law is not binding on Christians. At the same time, he insists that it is not legalism to reprove slothfulness in giving nor is it legalistic to voluntarily obligate ourselves to a tithe or other systematic plan of giving (as even Paul adivsed in 1 Cor. 16:1-2).
