We haven’t replaced religion with science, but turned science into a primitive religion—one without virtue, redemption, meaning, forgiveness, hope, or love. Science, by definition, cannot provide wisdom. We look “to scientists for spiritual guidance as if surgeons could tell us how to heal our souls” (Klavan, How to Save the West, 118).
